Foodie Fights #1 – Lemon and Potato
The six blogs that are competing in the first ever foodie fights competition have had almost a week to dream up and cook up their most original creations involving lemons and potatoes. Two seemingly humble ingredients, but I assure you that our competitors all really took these ingredients to the next level.
Below are the entries in no particular order. Please check out the sites before you vote. Oh. And be sure to actually vote for your favorite at the end. The winner will be announced on Thursday!
The submissions:
Savory Reviews – Chicken Limone with Gnocchi
Good ‘N Planty – Nicoise Salad with Grilled New Potatoes and Lemon Vinaigrette
Janie’s Creations – Gnocchi e carciofi al limone
Cupcake Muffin – Gnocchetti with Meyer Lemon Cream Sauce and Crispy Sage
Pete Bakes – Potato Wrapped Cod with Lemon Aioli & Grilled Asparagus and Zucc Salad
Food So Fine - Lemon Potato Risotto with Side Shrimp Ceviche
Remember, the poll is only half the story! Also check out the judges opinions.
A huge thanks to all the participants. Really a fantastic job by all of them. And thanks to everyone for reading and voting also!

John –
Potato wrapped fish is a classic French dish. There are recipes for it all over the web. It is not plagiarism to use an established recipe! most of the blogs adapted recipes from other sources to use in the battle. He put his unique spin on the meal and it looks delicious.

Wow! All week, I’ve been thinking about what I could have made for this challenge and not once did I consider gnocchi. Mostly I was contemplating fish-potato-patties of some sort… But I have to say these dishes all look beautiful and are much more inspired than anything I thought up. I wish everyone good luck on this foodie-fight!!

I agree that this was a load of fun for me too! Being in Italy, the gnocchi part seemed to make the most sense, and I found it humorous how many of us went that route. Too funny! Good luck to everyone, I had a ton of fun coming up with this recipe, and I know you all did too!

Allright. Why would we not be interested in the popular vote? We are the people who voted, we are your Readers who took time to read all these blogs and think long and hard about who should win, so thanks for posting those results!
All the entries were really great, imho, but I really thought the most creative use of the ingredients was the guy with four types of potatos, and who used lemon zest, juice, and also fried it. I liked the salad a lot, too, and the chicken dish.
Wow. Thanks for putting a comment section here, it felt great to write my opinion.
